Arkansas redneck fishing joke

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010
A redneck was stopped by a game warden in Arkansas recently with two ice chests of fish. He was leaving a cove well known for its fishing.

The game warden asked the man, “Do you have a license to catch those fish?”

“Naw, sir, I ain’t got none of them there licenses, no. You must understand these here are my pet fish.”

“Pet fish?” said the game warden.

“Yeah . Every night I take these here fish down to da lake and let them swim ’round for a while. Then I whistle and they jump rat back into this here ice chest and I take them home.”

“That’s a bunch of hooey! Fish can’t do that!” says the warden.

The redneck looked at the game warden for a moment and then said, “It’s the truth Mr. Government man, I’ll show you. It really works.”

“Okay,” said the game warden, “I’ve GOT to see this!”

The redneck poured the fish into the lake and stood and waited.

After several minutes, the game warden turned to him and said, “Well?”

“Well, what?” said the redneck.

The warden said, “When are you going to call them back?”

The redneck said, “Call who back?”

“The FISH!” replied the warden.

“What fish?” answered the redneck.

(We in Arkansas may not be as smart as some city slickers, but we aren’t as dumb as some government employees.)

Online insect library for fly anglers?

Monday, August 30th, 2010

I was thinking about building a website or possibly finding an excising one that has a picture list (close representation) of the natural aquatic insect life of the river systems starting in my own  State. I understand this would be a huge job to input in all the the US river systems, but I was thinking the web site could be open source?

This could be a helpful tool to aid fly anglers? Or is there a website already online?

Imput is valued.

Kevin

Thank You in advance.

Muskamoot bay smallmouth bass

smallies
Hey, all There were 20mph winds on Muskamoot Bay off  (flats area) to do a little smallmouth fishing before the rains. Fishing in 2′ of water with the only rod i have thatll punch through the wind, my 8wt with a lamson konic reel. I never fish a dropper system but i tried it today figuring i could increase my catch ratio with bass and bluegill. I used a home tied sculpin pattern with a small size 8 chart green wooly bugger. In an hour and a half i was able to get 6 smallies and 1 largemouth. Not a great day but not a bad day either. No pike, no carp. Surprisingly, half the fish came on the green bugger? I had to use a sink tip line just to keep it off the 1′ chop just so i could feel any strikes. And even that was difficult losing alot of fish

XST recipe

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010
I was thinking to maybe combine BVSLG guides with BFLG on some XST S&S blanks (specifically XST1025F, XST1143F and the future XST1144F) in a spinning set-up, to have a sort of Fuji NC arrangement.

The XY guides are not available in Poland and somehow I want to use Forecast guides only (just a whim). Was thinking of starting with size 30 (owing to the ID being limited by thickness of the ceramic rings). Do you happen to have any recipes at least for the first two blanksm, for such a guide arrangement?

I haven’t the foggiest idea how to space guides well, other than following an off-the-shelf recipe, so … help!

Cheers,
Fatso

Rod Building Supplies

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010
I live in Virginia and travel the east coast with work so I am searching for stores that offer a nice selection of rod building supplies? I have been online but have not had success thus far with this search.
