Hello Arkansas trout fisherman and women! I see this blog is primarily for trout anglers, but come on, there has to be some largemouth bass anglers in this group. My question, I am ready to fill up my tackle-box and buy plastic baits for bass fishing I just need to know how do the color works is it the darker the lighter the color or is it the lighter the color and also when do you use rattle traps spinner baits and buzz baits etc.

If anyone wants to point me in a direction or cast some advice it would be appreciated.

I give up! I’ll be fishing for the next 4 days and the weather forecasts really choppy water due to the wind.  The last time I was on the lake  this happened and I used everything in my tackle arsenal. Crankbaits, spinners, buzzbaits, poppers, and top waters.  Nothing! Zero. The only thing that seemed to work to the slightest amount was a swim-baits. Any advice for choppy water lake fishing?

You favorite moment fishing or if you had to pick one thing you like the most about fishing would be? Mine is that moment of fish on and getting the fish landed. It could be a few seconds, or a few minutes, and on rare occasions it’s longer, but no matter how long it lasts, it’s such a fleeting thing. I can think about it, try to recall it, but the memory is imperfect. When I’m there I try to savor it, freeze it in my mind. Nothing like it — just you and a fish.

List yours. I asked this question to some of my buddies and the answers varied from when they see the fish (healthy) swim away to when the fresh fish slaps the grill..

It’s just too hot to go trout fishing so I switched and going bullheads because my local lake is just thick with them. I also prepared some doughbait that I blended with small crappie and think this world be a great bait to use. Anyways, what baits do you think would be effective catching them. Also, time, fishing line,  and what hooks should I use?

Evening Arkansas Anglers I am looking for rod/reel suggestion for fishing the White River? I will be going for trout, but would be interested if I could use it for other fish like bass, gar, flatheads, ETC. It was a long time ago I was on the water and looking to brush up on my trout fishing.

I know this blog is manly for trout and fly fishing but there is also great bass fishing in Arkansas too! So my question is for the bass anglers on the blog. I am tired of spending money on bait every time I go fishing or lures that will not produce results.. So what smallie bass lures work the best? I’ve been using spinner bait and plastic worms, but I dont seem to catch anything. What of lures would you recommend to work the best for bass and pike? Also, if you have a picture of the lure then that would be helpful so I can match at the store.
