foam backs and puppa

What is your preferred foamback pattern ? Just thread or wire ribbed ? As for puppa UFO style Coats & Clarke thread with black head or just 6-0 or 8-0 tying thread with wire rib. Tying for trip this weekend so any thoughts or opinions greatly appreciated.
