first baitcaster advice needed
I’ve always used spinning rods. I’m thinking of getting my first baitcaster this season, i’ve never even held one before so i’m absolutely out of my depth! My fishing is pretty varied and i expect a lot from my equipment!
This’ll be a bass only rod, I want to be able to to fish cranks, spinner baits, topwater and flip+pitch with this set up. Yea i know i need a rod for each but i just want a good first ‘all rounder’.
Am i right in thinking a 6′6″-7′ med/heavy is where i wanna be looking? I don’t wanna spend a million bucks on st.croix but i don’t want bottom end zebco c*** either, mid range shimano/abu, you get the idea.
I am 6′2″ if that makes any difference.
I’ll keep the spinning rods going too but i’ll use them more for plastics and drop shot.
I don’t understand gear ratios, i know i need to learn. Do baitcasters typically come with a spare spool? i have different line choices on spare spools for my spinning reels…
