NY Backcountry Car Camping
I’m starting to plan my Memorial Day weekend (girlfriend out of town = camping), and I’d like to spend 3 nights in the Catskills fishing and camping. I hate noisy campgrounds, so I’m considering finding a spot where a road borders a state “wild forest”. Would it be…weird if I parked on the side of a small road, hiked my tent at least 150′ (as per the rules) from the road and camped? I mean, who needs a playground, showers, other people, dogs, outhouses etc? The spot I have in mind would also put me about 180′ from a beautiful brookie stream. Besides bears, should I be worried about drug-addicted inbred children attacking me for my beer in the middle of the night, off the beaten path in the Catskills?
